St.vincent fishers hospital provides a substantial portion of its core health services to the poor, uninsured or underinsured and has proactively taken steps to address accessibility, and the financing, and delivery of healthcare to the underserved. during the fiscal year ending june 30, 2014, the unreimbursed cost of free or discounted services provided to patients who were deemed indigent under state, county, or hospital guidelines was $3,706,358 which included $1,281,213 of traditional charity care and $2,425,145 in unpaid costs of care for those qualifying for medicaid or other public programs for the poor. see schedule h for a non-exhaustive list of community benefit programs and descriptions.
