The st. george corporation ("corporation") is a supporting organization of the palos health system, which includes palos community hospital ("hospital") and st. george wellness center ("wellness center"), which are both irc section 501(c)(3) organizations.the corporation's purposes include: -perform oversight of palos community hospital and st. george wellness center -management of endowment assets -promote health education -promote scientific research -promote community healthto achieve these purposes, st. george corporation will:maintain and operate organizations or facilities which provide healthcare or conduct healthcare related activities, including inpatient care, outpatient care, physician services, partial hospitalization, extended care, homecare, treatment of mental disease or affliction, and treatment of alcoholism or other chemical dependency.solicit, receive and collect private and public donations and gifts of money.the hospital will transfer to the corporation all of the hospital's assets that are not directly used in connection with the hospital operations. the corporation will administer and distribute those assets, as well as asets received through the collection of private and public contributions of gifts, money or property, in a manner consistent with the corporation's purpose of supporting the hospital and wellness center.grant money to the hospital and wellness center to support educational programs for the promotion of good health.provide financial support to the hospital and wellness center to conduct scientific research.participate in and financially support activities designed to promote community health.during 2014, st. george corporation provided service for 19,000 inpatients and 335,000 outpatients at the hospital. home health operations provided 167,000 visits to patients in their homes and the doctors at palos medical group provided 74,176 office visits. in addition, the wellness center served approximately 4,600 members during the year.
