Housing - mmi provides a wide variety of housing counseling services aimed at saving homes and building communities. foreclosure prevention counseling assists those who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments to keep their home and avoid the cost and credit rating damage associated with foreclosure. rental counseling provides guidance and solutions to those who are at risk of eviction. mmi's project porchlight disaster recovery program provides immediate and long-term support to consumers impacted by natural disasters and those experiencing economic disruption caused by the pandemic. post-modification counseling is a long-term financial coaching program designed to support long-term repayment success for consumers who have previously fallen delinquent on their mortgage. reverse mortgage counseling educates seniors on the benefits, consequences, options, and process of obtaining a home equity conversion mortgage, while reverse mortgage default supports seniors who are at risk of default due to lapsed property tax or insurance payments. mmi assists potential home buyers by educating them on the costs and responsibilities of home ownership. borrower success, mmi's post-purchase program, provides new homeowners with the education and information needed to support successful homeownership. more than 9,200 homebuyers per month receive phone calls, text messages or email from mmi providing timely, meaningful information to assist them in remaining current on their mortgage, understanding the responsibilities of homeownership, and providing resources for those who are struggling. as a u.s. department of housing and urban development (hud) approved provider of homeownership-counseling services, mmi affirmatively furthers fair housing through making consumers aware of discriminatory practices, making all programs and activities accessible to persons with disabilities, and making available language assistance services to persons with limited english proficiency. funding is provided by the hud and through contractual arrangements with mortgage servicers and government-sponsored enterprise (gse). in 2024, mmi provided nearly 29,000 housing-specific sessions. mmi provided homeownership education on the topics of home buying, loss mitigation, rental rights, and eviction prevention to 10,238 consumers via in person, live online, and self-paced education in the mmi university, framework and ehome america platforms in 2024.
Agency support services - mmi has operated the nevada 211 call center since 2015, serving residents pursuant to a contract with the state of nevada. nevada law requires maintenance of a statewide information and referral system. administration and oversight of nevada 211 is the responsibility of the nevada department of health and human services aging and disability services division under nevada revised statute (nrs) 232.359. the nevada 211 database includes 1,246 agencies offering 4,246 programs at more than 2,500 locations. nevada 211 call specialists are trained to assist people in navigating the process of finding the right agency for the needed service. this includes information and referrals for local healthcare, housing, food, utilities, transportation, childcare assistance, and more. in 2024, nevada 211 provided services to 123,068 nevadans via phone, text, email, and live chat. 284,464 users visited online at nevada211.org. additionally, nevada 211 representatives participated in 477 community outreach events in northern, southern, and rural nevada, increasing rural engagement with 86 events and activities improving and strengthening the partnerships with rural agencies and communities.
