Comprehensive rehabilitation services for blind persons-comprehensive personal and vocational adjustment services including teaching of braille, basic education instruction, diabetes control, orientation and mobility, activities of daily living, computer training, vocational counseling and placement, college preparation assistance and summer jobs for high school students. rehabilitation services aided 823 blind persons from october 1, 2015 through september 30, 2016.
Senior adult services-assisted 559 seniors who are blind or losing vision in maintaining independence through group presentations as well as individual assessment, information and referral, in-home counseling, volunteer assistance and related services. education and outreach provided to over 7,080 persons plus family and other caregivers.
Special services/outreach-provides information and referral about blindness and adaptive devices, braille transcription and recording textbooks and other materials on to cassette tapes for use by blind students and other blind users. volunteers record the textbooks. low-tech adaptive equipment is sold to blind individuals and individualized health and wellness training is provided. services were provided to over 1,852 visually impaired persons.education for blind children-provide assistance to children's center for the visually impaired. approximately 286 children and youth were served through donations to alphapointe adventure camp, technology camp and monthly youth development programs.
