Auxiliary enterprises: the college's auxiliaries exist primarily to furnish goods and services to enrolled students, faculty and staff. these services primarily consist of on-campus housing services and dining services.
In fy 25, allegheny college opened alic @ bessemer, its branch campus created to build the regional manufacturing workforce. in 2025, we developed and launched 21 technical training courses on technologies such as cnc machining, robotics, automation, programmable logic controls, industrial electrical systems, and professional development tools such as excel and leadership strategies. the components of alic @ bessemer:- technical training facilityalic @ bessemer offers high-tech, advanced manufacturing processes and operations training programs for incumbent workers, recent high school graduates, and underemployed individuals. see continuation on schedule o.alic was recently granted accreditation through the middle states commission on higher education, allowing our courses to be credit-bearing starting in the fall of 2025.- venture studioswhere we, alongside industry partners, ideate on the future of manufacturing, spinning off startups to solve near-future challenges.- applied research laboratoriesour four-year students from across campus will work alongside industry partners on applied research opportunities. they will deploy the theoretical knowledge gained through their rigorous allegheny education to real-world applications defined by our industry partners.- shared use - alic @ bessemer equipment will be available for our industry partners to rent time on, alleviating internal capacity issues and giving them access to high-end machinery that might otherwise be out of reach.
